Shani Dev Ji is a son of Lord Sun (Surya Devji) and Chhaya, and also known by many names, like Chhayaputra, Saptarchi, Sanaischara, Saumya, Asita, Manda, Achanchala and Kruradris. Shani is the brother of Yama and Yami. Shani is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is feared by people on the planet Earth, probably because he is responsible for giving people the fruit of their deeds, whether good or bad, in their present lives. Saade Saati is regarded as a hard phase of anyone’s life when they just have to keep their calm, continue to fight against all the odds and pray to Lord Shani Maharaj. His aarti starts with words- Shani Dev Ji Ki Aarti.

About Shani Dev Ji

Shani Dev Ji is Surya and Chayya’s son. He is depicted as lame or with a limp, as it is believed that he was injured in childhood while fighting with his brother Yama. In order to make the lord of Saturday happy, people can recite the Shani mantra, anoint Saturn with mustard oil, and worship him with his favourite things, like black sesame seeds, black pepper, cloves, black cloth, urad and black salt.
