Shri Vishnu is responsible for ensuring the proper order of things (dharma). In addition, to fight demons and sustain cosmic harmony, he takes various incarnations. Vishnu Bhagwan stands for Sattvaguna and is the centripetal force, who has the specific duty in this universe for its sustenance, protection and maintenance.
Lord Vishnu is the Supreme God of Vaishnavism, who is also known by the names of Hari and Narayana. He makes Trideva/Trimurti, alongside God Brahma and great lord Shiva. Shri Vishnu is conceived as “the Preserver or the Protector” and it is believed that Lord Brahma was born from a lotus flower that was grown from the navel of Vishnu Bhagwan.
In Sanskrit:
ॐ नमोः नारायणाय !!
In English:
Om Namo Narayana !!
Vishnu Bhagwan is known for riding an eagle called Garuda. In all the Hinduism scriptures, the lord is depicted with an eagle travelling to places. Most of the time, he rides with his wife Goddess Laxmi. Vishnu Ji Ki Sawari is Garuda and he travels to all places in the universe riding on it.
All the things associated with Lord Vishnu Ji represent a deeper meaning. The ocean is a symbol of consciousness and bliss. The serpent is symbolic of time, desire, diversity, and illusion. His better half is the goddess Lakshmi that is symbolic of the power of creation along with various material things.
Goddess Lakshmi is the consort of Shri Vishnu and the Goddess of Wealth. In terms of etymologically, the meaning of God is the one who pervades and is a part of everything. Lord Vishnu is this universe’s transeunt reality. Vishnu Bhagwan holds a discus in his hands that is used for destroying evil and safeguarding the righteous ones. Symbolically it is a representation of a light-bearing sun that not just illuminates but also eradicates the darkness. Another representation of this discus is a higher consciousness that is known for destroying every illusion there is. The mace is also present in Vishnu Ji’s pictorial, which stands for the power of knowledge.
