Homemade Sanitizer Spray: Make hand sanitizer to kill germs and protect with Coronavirus.

Amid the viral outbreak, we all know one of the best ways to stay healthy is to always wash your hands with soap and water. However, since the virus stays longer on surfaces, you never know where you lay your hands on! Therefore, sanitizers are highly recommended to get rid of unwanted germs at any time. In such a situation where the virus is gripping the world, noticing empty shelves may rise your anxiety issues. If you’ve been carrying that empty bottle around, you can fill it up by making your sanitizer gel.

Steps to Make Homemade Multi-Purpose Sanitizer Spray

Step 1: Use Alcohol

Pour the alcohol in a container, and make sure you’ve got at least 99.8% of pure alcohol

Step 2: Hydrogen Peroxide

Add hydrogen peroxide

Step 3: Glycerin

Add Glycerin

Step 4: Cold Water

Add distilled or cold water into your mix

Step 5: Essential Oil

Add some essential oil

Step 6: Clean Bottles

Clean your bottles well and then pour your sanitizer in the bottles

Step 7: Ready to use

Now, you can label them and start selling or using it

Instructions for the WHO formulation

For WHO formulation, it is recommended, anything that’s added in water and alcohol is hypoallergenic or non-toxic. One of the most known humectants that meet the standards and requirements is 98% glycerol. You can also use other alternatives such as Aloe Vera Gel, which can be found easily in many stores.

Materials required to make the sanitizer

Based on the WHO recommended guidelines:

For Isopropyl alcohol-based sanitizer, you will need:

  • 99.8% Isopropyl Alcohol – 751.5 ml
  • 3% Hydrogen Peroxide – 41.7 ml
  • 98% Glycerol – 14.5 ml
  • 192.3 ml Distilled Water or Cooled Boiled Water

For Ethanol-based hand sanitizer, you will need:

  • 96% Ethanol – 833.3 ml
  • 3% Hydrogen peroxide – 41.7 ml
  • 98% Glycerol – 14.5 ml
  • 111 ml Sterile distilled or boiled cold water

In times like this, the only preventive measure to take care of oneself is staying clean and hygienic. According to WHO, these are some simple precaution to reduce the chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based hand rub
  • Maintain a social distance of 1 meter
  • Avoid crowds
  • Avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose
  • Cover your mouth, nose with a bent elbow when you cough or sneeze
