About Maa Skandamata

Maa Skandamata is worshiped on the 5th day or Panchami Tithi every Navratri. She is the fifth form of Devi Durga. When Mata Parvati gave birth to Lord Skanda also known as Kartikeya, she was given the name Maa Skandamata. In any idol or picture of this Goddess, you will see her carrying baby Murugan or Skanda in her lap. Maa Skandamata has 4 hands, wherein in her upper two hands, she is seen holding Lotus flowers. In one of her right hands, baby Murugan is present, whereas her other right hand is always in the Abhaya Mudra. On the 5th day of Navratri, Maa Skandamata Aarti and Mantra are chanted to gain her blessings.
